New appointment – Associate Director

We are excited to announce the appointment of Zara Burn as Associate Director – Heritage & Archaeology.

Zara has more than 14 years experience in consultancy and archaeological fieldwork. She has a proven track record of working collaboratively with other environmental consultants, designers and stakeholders, adopting multi-disciplinary approaches to solving client’s needs. She has considerable experience in managing, producing and technically assuring a wide range of heritage documents. This includes work to support design development, planning applications and Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA). Zara is an accredited Member of the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists and is on the panel of professional interviewers for MCIfA applications.

Before joining The Rocket Group, Zara was a Principal Archaeologist for an engineering consultancy. She was heritage lead on regional and national scale infrastructure projects. This included working as Archaeological Survey Manager for non-intrusive surveys on High Speed Two Phase 2B. She developed a bespoke heritage layer for a GIS tool to allow rapid identification of risk on Natural Flood Management sites within the River Aire Catchment. Zara was also seconded to the Environment Agency to provide expert heritage advice within the National Environment Assessment and Sustainability Team. Prior to this Zara worked for a commercial field unit for nine years, moving from Trainee Site Assistant to Senior Project Officer. She has extensive experience undertaking and managing archaeological work and has published archaeological monographs, primarily on Roman sites within Yorkshire.
